Fast Nit & Head Lice Control

Head lice rapidly evolve and are resistant to many traditional pesticide-based control methods which have never been able to kill nits effectively and usually require repeated treatments. The type or length of hair does not impact the effectiveness of our treatment as long as the hair can be combed with a fine-tooth louse comb and a single consultation is all that is needed to be rid of head lice and nits.

Highly Effective Nit & Head Lice Control

Almost all prescription and over-the-counter medications to treat head lice and nits contain pesticides or other chemicals, many of which have the potential to cause irritating skin reactions or other harmful side effects. Our service gets rid of head lice, nits and empty shells. Depending on the level of infestation two visits may be required. We recommend nit-combing for a few days after your treatment to be sure that all the debris has been removed.

Safe Nit & Head Lice Control

Our clean, dry removal process requires no basin, leaves no gooey mess and the professional team at The Nit Clinic remove all debris from the hair. Depending on the severity and/or length of time a client has had a nit/ head lice problem then a follow up appointment could be required but we will discuss this with you when you make a booking​

How can I begin to thank you?! My poor daughter had been suffering all year from an infestation of headlice - I had tried everything, combing every night, every chemical I could find, conditioning treatments - and I just could not keep on top of it. This service is for when you have just discovered lice and it’s a new infestation (not something you've been battling for weeks/months/years.

A trained consultant conducts a professional, in-depth treatment to completely clear the scalp of lice and eggs. Depending on the level and/or stage of infestation a follow-up appointment may be necessary and will be discussed at the initial appointment.

Clear Hair of Empty Casing/ Shells $220

This service is for when you have a build up of the white shells/empty casings (you will also likely have live lice and eggs & have been battling for weeks/months/years).

Please note that this service does also remove empty shell casings but if there is a build up of these you will need to book the follow up Clear Hair of Empty Casings service. Again this will be determined at the initial appointment

Myths & FAQs

Below are the most common questions we get about head lice and how to get rid of them!

Of course the most effective, fast and easiest way to get rid of head lice is to visit The Nit Clinic in Auckland for a professional nit removal treatment. 

Can head lice jump or swim from person to person?​

NO! Head lice have legs designed for climbing so need to be able to crawl from person to person in close proximity. Head lice cannot swim.

Only dirty people have head lice.

NO! Headlice feed on blood, not dirt. Anyone can host head lice and they are comfortable living in any suburb.

People with dark-coloured hair get head lice more than other people.

NO! It is easier to see the yellow-white nits in dark hair so darkhaired people may be able to manage the problem more easily. People with light-coloured hair may find it is easier to manage the brown head lice. Head lice like hosts with hair of any colour.

Head lice prefer certain blood types.

NO! Head lice like to feed on any blood.

Children get head lice from classroom carpets or animals.

NO!Headlice only live on human heads. ​

Schools with policies on headlice don’t have children with headlice.

NO! A policy is not a magic protection but a well-thought-out policy does help a school manage the problem. But, a policy no-one follows is no help at all.

What if my child has allergies as well as nits, or I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

​Our’s is the perfect option, especially for people with asthma, allergies or other conditions that preclude traditional chemical treatments. Our method is ideal for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers as it is safe, chemical free and doesn't make you feel hot and uncomfortable.

Our youngest client has been a few weeks old and our eldest client is 89 years old.

Is there anyone who can't be treated?

We cannot treat people who have open head wounds, sores, or visible signs of skin or scalp abnormalities
